Note 1
If you create a virtual machine using VMWare, 3 types of connectivity are provided: Host-only, NAT or Bridged.
You can't use NAT and Bridged modes if you do not have the following equipment (LAN, Hub, Switch,Ethernet ADSL modem ...) connected to your physical Ethernet port.
Note 2
You can use the Host-only mode to install a proxy (eg HTTP) on the host machine to share Internet connection.(For example Freeproxy Proxomitron or Windows).
ขั้นต่อไปเป็นการกำหนด Network Connection ซึ่งมีให้เลือกทั้งหมด 4 ประเภท ซึ่งแต่ละประเภทแตกต่างกันดังนี้ครับ
1. Use bridged networking หมายความว่า ตัว OS ใน VMware ที่เราติดตั้งจะอยู่ใน network เดียวกับตัวเครื่อง PC หรือมองว่าสาย Lan ต่ออยู่บน Hub หรือ switch ตัวเดียวกันกับ PC
2. Use network address translation (NAT) อันนี้จะหมายความว่า VMware ที่เราติดตั้งจะออกสู่ Internet โดยผ่านเครื่อง PC ครับ โดย PC จะทำการ NAT ให้ อันนี้ทดลองเอาไว้ test ได้ครับ ว่า NAT ทำงานถูกต้องหรือไม่
3. Use host-only networking อันนี้จะหมายความว่า VMware ที่เราติดตั้ง จะอยู่บน LAN เสมือน หรืออยู่บน Hub หรือ switch เสมือนที่เราสมมติขึ้นมาครับ โดยจะสามารถติดต่อได้เฉพาะที่อยู่บน LAN เสมือนเดียวกันเท่านั้น เอาไว้ทดลองเกี่ยวกับ network ได้ครับ โดยที่ไม่ต้องเสียเงินซื้อ Hub หรือ switch จริง
แนะนำให้เลือกข้อ 1 เพราะ ตัว VMware เราจะได้ออก Internet ได้โดยตรง แต่ต้องมีการ set ค่าต่างๆให้ถูกต้องนะครับเช่น IP Address , DNS , Gateway เป็นต้น หลังจากเลือกแล้วกด Next
